My name is Evan Oakes. I reside in Western New York with my wife & 2 sons. I have been a worship leader for over 20 years ago, & am a Bible teacher at the local Christian School & I am on staff with my church as their Discipleship Pastor.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living & active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul & of spirit, of joints & of marrow, & discerning the thoughts & intentions of the heart.” This verse is my theme verse for all my teaching. I hope my audience, whether it be in the classroom, from the pulpit, or even here on the internet, see the Word of God as living & active, & not some out of date distant writing.
I like to use comedy in all things, & often will try to see God’s humor in certain stories of scripture. I love to show people God’s Word in a real way & help us understand the love God has for us. I never want to take for granted the access I have to the written Word, & encourage all I encounter to be thankful for that!
